Balzac's Chandelier

The chandelier at Balzac's at the Distillery in Toronto. This is an indoor capture with a Holga and Tmax 3200 film. The streaks are likely from the film being wound too tight.

-Added to the Cream of the Crop pool as most favorited.

But the streaks work. Love the atmosphere here. Brings to mind warm evenings in large, echoey columned halls - with piano recitals... attended by women in empire-waisted dresses and men in standing collars and tails...

Absolute love this piece! The streaks are perfect and add to the otherworldliness of it. Bravo!!

Film? What's that then? Digital is perfect, which is probably why there are now so few photos as beautiful as this!

I would probably have spent half the night getting rid of the streaks, and lost the magic. And M W Pinsent above has the right take on this: even without the streaks, this is clearly film shooting. And very sweet.

Whilst enjoying my lemonade at Balzac's this midday, I noticed that they have a sign restricting spontaneous photography. Hopefully, just the weddings and spontaneous cover shoots that break out there regularly. It is like it's own little nation, or Manhattan, take your pick.

Excellent capture. The "mistake" really makes the photo.

Zowie! I love this, streaks included.
It looks like lights in a witch's coven during a ceremony. not the chandelier and Balzac's.

I heard the opening organ from Phantom of the Opera when I saw this. I think the streaks are what made this photo.

it's the flaws and "mistakes" that so often make something special, like the streaks in this image. they're almost like a magic conjuring of confetti.
