Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Well, it's definitely been a little while since I've posted any Conor photos but today is his birthday & also the one year anniversary release of "The People's Key", so to follow in my usual suit I thought I'd post a little something.

Happy Birthday to one of the most influential & inspiring people out there. Year after year Conor releases new & exciting material while always keeping true to himself & continuing to have a good time. If it weren't for him, I probably never would have dove into music photography like I had, so thank you for being so damn awesome.

Wilco (Jeff Tweedy) _MG_5822xr

Wilco (Jeff Tweedy) @ the Wiltern, Los Angeles. January 25th, 2012.

It's been quite a while since I've updated flickr but I'm going to try to start again. Shooting Wilco has been a dream of mine for a long time- the show was brilliant & I'm so so happy I got to be there.

As a side note: I usually shoot with a Nikon D700 but I've occasionally been testing out the Canon 5D Mark II... This was the first time I used the 5D Mark II where I felt adequately impressed by it. I'm still far more used to the Nikon interface & strongly believe Nikon's focusing system & ISO noise are substantially better but I was pretty happy with the results from the 5D Mark II tonight.

Setlist:

1) One Sunday Morning
2) Poor Places
3) Art Of Almost
4) I Might
5) I Am Trying to Break Your Heart
6) One Wing
7) Rising Red Lung
8) Impossible Germany
9) Born Alone
10) Laminated Cat (Loose Fur cover)
11) Pot Kettle Black
12) She's A Jar
13) Misunderstood
14) California Stars
15) Box Full Of Letters
16) Standing O
17) A Magazine Called Sunset
18) Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway(again)
19) Dawned On Me
Encore:
20) Whole Love
21) Heavy Metal Drummer
22) I'm the Man Who Loves You
23) Casino Queen
24) Hoodoo Voodoo

Maria Taylor _MT03955xr

Maria Taylor @ the Echo, Los Angeles. October 20th, 2011.

Alabama native & once upon a time Los Angeles resident Maria Taylor was back in support of her latest release, Overlook, which came out on Omaha based label Saddle Creek earlier this year. Touring with her is Dead Fingers, a duo composed of Kate Taylor & Taylor Hollingsworth, & another Saddle Creek duo, Big Harp. Stefanie Drootin of Big Harp recently founded Omaha Girls Rock, a music/performance camp of sorts, which you can read more about here: www.omahagirlsrock.com. Dead Fingers’ debut album will be out early next year & Big Harp’s debut, White Hat, came out this September.

Setlist:
1 Masterplan
2 Orchids
3 My Favorite Love
4 Song Beneath The Song
5 Ladyluck
6 In A Bad Way
7 Cartoons and Forever Plans
8 Clean Getaway
9 Xanax
10 Matador
11 Birmingham 1982
12 Bad Idea?
13 Happenstance

Amazing show, only thing I wish is that Maria's set was a little longer & that she played "Like It Does". Her new album "Overlook" is definitely in my top 5 of this year though so like I've said a hundred times in the past, please do yourself a favor & check out Maria Taylor if you haven't already!
