• Bare elastic...still need 1-2 yards to finish.

quick 'n dirty no sew tutu

I am calling this the "quick 'n dirty no sew tutu"...oh, and can I add 'cheap'?

1. Cut elastic to length and sew ends to form waistband.

2. Cut tulle into strips. My tulle was folded in half so I cut strips and then folded them in half again to get this length (toddler). I would use the full width for a child 5+ so it is longer.

3. "Fishtail" cut the ends...(I am not sure if this is the term) fold ends in half and snip from fold angling down to ends to form a triangle. This results in two points.

4. Tie strips onto elastic.

This is roughly 4 1/2 yards of tulle. I need about 1-2 yards to finish. At 77 cents a yard at W-mart...I am about $4.20 (including the elastic) into it thus far and about 2 hours....if that. Well worth it for this wonderous garment of pink fluffiness.

After all, everyone should spend a least one moment of their life in a tutu.

I can't stop coming back to this photo! It is so fluffy and inspirational! I will have to add to my new to do list of craftys! I can't wait to make some!!! And how cute we will have to have a tutu party! This would be a great idea for little girls to wear at a birthday party! They would just have to arrive in their onesies, then a tutu for each :) hmm... maybe for next year. :P

this is awesome! i sewed a tutu for elle 4 years ago -- my 2nd ever sewing project after getting a sewing machine of my own (the last time i'd sewed before that was when i was about 11) -- and it's getting kinda small for her now, but i didn't totally want to make another one in the same style. this is WAY better! awesome!!!
