The Chapel in Chatsworth House, taken on today's Leeds Flickr group outing to the Beyond Limits Sculpture exhibition.
As Chatsworth kindly offered a two for one ticket to the house and garden to their twitter followers, we thought we'd take them up on a visit to the house as well as a wander around the gardens to see the sculptures there as part of the Beyond Limits exhibition, where Sotherbys take advantage of the wonderful settings around the house to display some of their pieces for sale.
We followed the guided tour, which was really interesting and informative - while the guide was discussing Hirst's pieces on display at the end of the lake (Myth and Legend), she mentioned that his piece, St Batholemew, was still on loan to the house and was currently being displayed in the chapel. Apparently the setting has caused some controversy, as some believe the sculpture too graphic to be displayed in the beautiful peaceful surroundings of the chapel. I think it fits perfectly.
