Girl Scout Cookies

I love Girl Scout Cookies.

I have a long history as a scout and as a 'cookie sales' supporter. That said, I HATE buying cookies at the grocery store.

I fully expect the Girl Scout Cookie Sale Experience. Yes, it should be capitalized. I expect the girls to come to my door, give me their spiel, and ask me to buy from them.

Waiting outside the grocery store door and waiting for customers to approach you? Doesn't cut it. I spent many a day walking neighborhoods, hitting apartment complexes where I did not live, hitting the most houses in the shortest distance with my Dad in order to get my free week of summer camp. Every year I was able to make the sales so that I could ride horses, live in a tent and sing around a campfire for a week. So that I could get eaten alive by mosquitoes, take cold showers and get up at 5am to do flag duty. So that I could muck stalls, clean latrines and have the absolute time of my life.

Thank you, Dad, for all of the time you gave me so that I could do that. Thank you, Scouting, for supporting the girls getting to know their neighbors and for giving scouting a face in our cities.

And, please, can one girl come to my house next year? I know that I am not always home - but I promise to make it worth your while. I limited myself to 15 boxes at the grocery store...I usually buy many more.
