Remnants of a Tuolumne Sunset
Tuolumne holds a special place in my heart.
The creeks meandering amongst stone monoliths that rise out of the lush green meadow like stoic monuments from a bygone era in a gentle glacier-carved valley spanned by the mighty Tuolumne river and where the earth meets the sky in an every changing seasonal landscape and skyscape is a beauty to behold and observe.
And I have been thankful to visit it so many times and shoot it in its multifaceted moods - a snow-covered meadow melting to signify the beginning of spring, a green carpet of grass dotted colorfully with short spanning wildflowers where bears and deers abound followed by the dry bitterness of late summer where everything has withered away and waiting for the solemn embrace of fall and where life remains still until a wintry white powder deposits on the hills and plains signaling winter.
Here, I was rushing through the meadows to the riverside trying to capture the remnants of a colorful sunset (after a heavy delicious meal). The contrast was so great that I had to resort to a 5 exposure HDR to capture the large dynamic range in this wide-angle scene. Post-processed later to remove the blur in the clouds by blending with one of the exposure.
Apologies for the break - but having to spend a week without internet at home is rather hard.
