The macro of a flower of Calophyllum inophyllum
Large evergreen tree, it is native from East Africa, southern coastal India to Malesia and Australia.

In English this tree is often confusingly called Alexandrian Laurel(it is not a laurel nor native to Alexandria)
Other common names: Ballnut, beach mahogany, Beauty leaf, oil-nut tree, punnaga.

Location: Darwin, Australia

    To add to the confusion, Danae racemosa (a rhizomatous monocot grown in southern Europe as a cut foliage) is also known as Alexandrian Laurel.

    There are huge, thick-trunked specimens of C. inophyllum leaning out over the beach at Cape Tribulation.

    yes, I know about another A-n laurel.

    This one I call "Tree with fig leaves, apple blossom and macadamia nuts"!
