The Derelict S.S. Kyle

    The old Newfoundland coastal steamer S. S. Kyle ran ashore during a storm nearly four decades ago in Harbour Grace, and still sits there today, rusting in the harsh salt air.

      I was the helicopter pilot aboard the SS Kyle during the 1962 and 63 sealing seasons.

      I have great memories of those trips; Capt Guy and his family were the best of Newfoundlanders. Strange for an old fighter and helicopter pilot to love those so much, but it is true.
