The pied wagtail is on the RSPB Green status list.

It was fascinating to watch this pied wagtail scraping away the snow and looking (and listening) for insects.

grey squirrel ~ sciurus carolinensis
commonly known as "tree rats"

This squirrel broke the branch to fetch the bird feeder down even then he gnawed his way through chain and string that had attached it. He couldn't work how to reach the seed balls other than scrape some of it off with his claws.

The blue tit is on the RSPB Green status list.

This bird (with attitude) is a regular visitor who insists he is a groundfeeder and clears up seeds other blue tits throw off the bird table and from the mixed seed feeder.

winter aconites ~ eranthis hyemalis (woodland flower known as winter aconite or Wolf's bane member of the buttercup family).

I found these flowers under a hedge as the snow disappeared but most of the flowers have already gone over.
