The blackbird is on the RSPB Green status list

This blackbird was visiting for a drink and was suddenly surprised by a thirsty bee. I am now leaving a puddle of water when I fill the birdbath regularly for insects as a few have drowned trying take a drink. That was a couple of days ago, first we had rain, then sleet and now we have snow.

The reed bunting is on the RSPB Green status list.

Our first appearance of a reed bunting was exactly a year ago to the day and it hung around for a week or two before disappearing.

long tailed tit ~ aegithalos caudatus

This bird is on the RSPB Green status list.

This long tailed tit actually perched for more than a second allowing me to take his photo before flying off. He seemed to be enjoying the sun that finally appeared this afternoon. I suppose it will be back to grey skies again tomorrow.
