    Nenita cares for her severely malnourished daughter too weak to even lift a glass full of water at their shanty in Leveriza, Manila, Philippines.

    Social instability and uneven distribution of wealth are usually the culprit to hunger-related deaths in developing countries. People are dying, not because there is not enough food, but because they are too poor to buy it and have no land where they could grow their own.

      Fantastic image. Reminds me of Eugene Smith. Good reporting. Moving narrative.

      thank you, David. I'm flattered that this image reminded you of Smith's photograph. His Minamata and many other projects made an impression on me.

      Years ago I picked up a vintage copy of Life magazine -that one had the Country Doctor essay.
