Honeybee on Winterberry

    Newer Older

Thank you to Drosera-x for the plant genus ID. Large, dense bush (~7' tall) covered with tiny white flowers in the axils, 5-7 petals (usually 6), very popular with the pollinators, found in botanical garden (maybe wild, maybe planted).

      I. verticillata or laevigata? This was the holly region of the Rutgers botanical garden (although I didn't originally know that this shrub was one of the plantings), so either is possible.

I've not seen Winterberry in bloom but I know where I have seen the berries in the fall. I think I will stop by and have a look today.

I really like the bee in the photo too!
