THE YEAR OF THE OX
![]() The Urban Reconstructionist Series
The Year of the Ox is very symbolic to my own nature. It represents a phrase of life, energy & love - simply living & being in the moment. To each new year comes a new beginning, a new life. This piece was a departure from my past work, for it was shot at low light, right before the night came. It was the aftermath of the annual Chinese New Year Parade in New York's Chinatown in celebration of the year of the Ox. While shooting this piece, the streets of Chinatown was bare, people were non-existent, neon signs glowed as if it was the sun coloring the streets with its aura, multi-colored confetti littered the streets like spurts of color beams. It was a land of pure freedom. Looking up with wonder was a blue dove soaring through the concrete lined skies. I was the blue dove. CommentsStephenReed
