Carol service invitation

Carol service invitation

Goal: Postcard—hand out invitation to church carol service
Audience: Young adults/university students in United Kingdom city
Direction: This card is to contrast with the more traditional/sentimental invitation that will be used to attract older members of society (age 40+).
The carol service is a combination of traditional carols to be sung by the congregation and contemporary Christian songs by a choir. It's a combination of reasonably formal in its programme but warm and friendly.

May yet have a map on the reverse.

Been looking at it for too long and require your feedback please!

Spirit of Living God-sermon series publicity

Spirit of Living God-sermon series publicity

This is postcard publicity for a sermon series.

Goal: To attract people to the series of talks.
Audience: Adult church members of a church of 180 people in UK city
Direction: Told it must be 'cheerful, suggestive of life and hope, with strong vivid colours'
Other important info: A6 sized and printed in-house on a colour printer/copier. The b&w is the reverse of the postcard invitation.

I have a very short turnaround time to complete this-what can I do to take it to the next level?

Maundy Thurs 2010 invitation

Maundy Thurs 2010 invitation

This is a draft A6 invitation

Goal: To invite members of the church to a for a small, reflective, quiet gathering (prayer and communion).
Audience: All—age ranges 16-100. Historically elderly members attend, the aim is to introduce this once-a-year service to the entire church family.
Direction: Dark, melancholy, sombre, with 'a shadow of a cross looming'. The service is one of personal reflection as the final moments of Jesus are remembered...before he goes to the Cross.
Other important info: Printed in-house on a colour copier. My personal aim is to have this artwork tie-in thematically with other Easter art (below)

***I need some technical help with making the cross work effectively. The rest of the image is crisp (as is the series artwork) and so the shadow/cross seems out of place to me. Does it work? Suggestions please as to other ways of achieving a 'shadow looming' ...!
