Ice patterns fracture the surface in frozen Tenaya Lake in Yosemite's high country. Glad I got to see it. The sounds the lake made in the early morning were really something special. Sunrise on New Year's morning was somewhat of a bust, but January 2nd more than made up for it. 1/2/12 was the good stuff whereas last year it was 1/1/11.

Spectacular shot, Jim! This little lake is beautiful ~ we stopped here last fall when it was open and blue and the weather was super warm. I love the beauty of Tioga Pass. The color and clarity of detail in this shot is amazing....love it!!!

textured ice, mountains, AND a nice sky? great everything.

Nice work on the blend. Blending is never an easy task. I'd be tempted to darken the sunrise reflection on the ice a bit as seems as brighter than the sky. Could be my work monitor playing tricks on me though. Excellent image as usual.
