Grindleford Station Cafe, Derbyshire, Peak District National Park

You have to visit this cafe to understand why it's a tourist attraction in its own right. If you ask for an all day breakfast do NOT ask for mushrooms. They don't do mushrooms. Mushrooms are NOT part of a British traditional breakfast, so there!

At the western end of the Totley Tunnel, the second longest in Britain, over 3 miles underground to emerge in Sheffield's leafy suburbs.

This is the place to alight to walk up through Padley Gorge, part of the National Trust's Longshaw Estate, to Higger Tor and Carl Wark. Or along the River Derwent to Hathersage or Calver and beyond.
