Lone Tree on a Frosty Morning

Lone Tree on a Frosty Morning

It was about 8 degrees F and the moisture from the nearby Snake River covered everything in a thin layer of frost as the sun rose on this image taken north of Idaho Falls. Even though the frost and temperature made this seem like winter, the lack of the usual snow cover is a bit scary!

Mesa Arch

Mesa Arch

It's been a while since I have been to Mesa Arch so while I was in the area I decided to visit this iconic spot. I was amazed that there were only three of us shooting pictures this morning! Maybe the fact that it was 14 degrees F made a difference ;-).

Every time I see a sunrise at this spot I am amazed at the glow under the arch. And so in the interest of full disclosure I have not used any hdr or manipulations on this shot, just a bit of levels adjustment in PS.

Check Your Back

Check Your Back

It's hard to turn your back on the Tetons but the light was better the other way on this day near Ox Bow Bend. I must constantly remind my self to turn around and look behind me!

"Always check your back." - Good advice for photography and life ;-)
