Marquesitas "El Chino"
A lady prepares a "marquesita" for a young girl at a street stall located outside the Casa de la Cultura de Cancún.
"Marquesita" is a snack typical to the Yucatan Peninsula, it is a thin waffle made with pancake mix that can be stuffed with ingredients of your own election, among the choices you have you can find gouda cheese, ham, butterscotch, cream cheese, peanut butter and a hazelnut/chocolate butter called Nutella.
So, next time you visit this part of Mexico, don't forget to try a "marquesita".

Mando, yo mismo no las conocí hasta que me mudé a esta parte de la república. Son muy ricas, cada que viene un visitante intento llevarlo a probarlas.

yo invente el nombre de marquesitas el CHINO, una persona que vive en cancún me copio el nombre y mis marquesitas, yo las vendía en Mérida, Yucatán desde el año 1999
invente la QUETA que es con queso y cajeta
la MERMA que es de queso con mermelada
y la PHILI que es de dos quesos; queso de bola y philadelphia
