The Whitstable whelkman

Derrick West has the sea running through his veins, a 3rd generation fisherman. fishing shellfish and fish along the kentish coast for over 65 years........well past retirement age, Derrick works alongside his beloved wife Jean and son Graham who now drives the family business 'West Whelks' into a very modern world.
ps that is not a texture on the image, it's steam from cooking the whelks.

sailing on shingle......is a very rough ride.
