Burke Signs Letters

    Picture of Archbishop Raymond Burke taken at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis (the 'New Cathedral') as he was signing documents after the priesthood ordination Mass in 2008.

    Strobist info: One SB-24 left at full power on stand with brolly; one SB-24 right at half power on stand with brolly—both triggered with poverty wizards.

      Somehow it doesn't look lke a fitting environment for poverty wizards.

      @ WB 2008 - Ha ha! Of course... especially when the poverty wizard commander was mounted atop a Nikon D3 with a 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens! (Not for this picture, though—I was using my D40 for some, the D3 for others).

      D3? 2.8 VR? Commander?

      Isn't there some vow of poverty or something that requires relinquishment of such worldly goods to me?

      GREAT lighting and balance.

      I think it's totally fitting. "Please God work! Please God work!" lol

      @Jake: Well, since you put it that way......

      @ Silver Image: This picture was a set I took at the St. Louis priesthood ordination Mass. I don't own the D3/70-200, I had to rent them. I do most of my photography with a D40 and a couple of cheap, but nice, lenses, and I will probably never be able to experience a camera body as nice as the D3 again—unless someone wants to give me one ;-)

      I think with the shots you get, the church should make you an official photographer and make sure you are well-equipped. Your PJ and environmental portraiture are great. I am sure the STL archdiocese (or whatever they call the regional thing) could use the pictures.

      Those McCain and whatshername shots are great too.

      @ Silver Image: I am pretty much the 'unofficial seminary photographer' for now... I love photography, but can't be a *true* PJ because of the fact that I'm giving my life over to God ;-)

      @geerlingguy: Yes, of course; but, even God needs a public relations representative now and then, especially one who is adept and passionate. I wonder how many 'official' photographers there are in Vatican City?
      ;-}

      @ Silver Image: Well, I know there's a Papal photographer.
