Langlois Cheese Makers, Oregon - Summer 1956
The first Oregon Blue Vein Cheese - - Racks of blue vein cheese age inside the Aging building at Langlois (Oregon) Cheese Makers factory during the summer of 1956. The following spring (April 1957), the factory burned to the ground - - - and was not rebuilt. On our return trip through Langlois in July 1957, the twisted steel racks still sat in the charred ruins of the factory, which was situated on the west side Highway 101, just south of town. As of April 2007, only the rusted Langlois Cheese Makers sign remained standing to mark the spot where the factory stood. Scanned from Kodak Ektachrome slide. DBD photo.
