I couldn't resist posting another image of this pine marten from Algonquin Park. He was a funny little guy. He kept popping up and down on the snowbanks around the parking area. Most of the time he was bright-eyed but every so often, he would scrunch up his face and close his eyes.

On a trip to Algonquin Park last week, I was lucky to see this cute little pine marten popping in and out of the parking area. He was very small so I think he might be a youngster. They always seem to have snow on their nose from snuffling along the ground.

This shot was taken while I was tromping around in the snow exactly one year after breaking my shoulder when I slipped on ice while shooting last year. It's been a long road back and needless to say, I was very careful where I put my feet.

We've had almost no snow this winter, but I happened to go up to Algonquin a day after a 15-cm snow storm. The snow did make everything very beautiful but it was a challenge walking around. I don't trust snow and ice any more.

Handy to have but I'm not sure I'd want to carry it around on my head. :-)

A sleepy barred owl at dusk in Presqu'ile Park. I wonder what it's like to sleep standing up. I'd probably fall off the branch. :-)

We're having a warm winter so far, with relatively little snow. We did have snow the other day, but a sunny morning melted most of it into ice on tree branches. I found this one particularly intriguing with its elegant curves and curlicues.
