The four-million years of erosion on Kauai have etched out the lava
into a spectacular canyon in the middle of the southwest side of the
island.
The record setting annual rainfall continues carving new shapes.
Kauai's longest river of 19-miles runs in this valley bottom.

I thought that looked like Waimea... I appreciate the info on it. It has a strange carved look, flocked by vegetation almost making it look somewhat unreal. I took some pictures when I was there but nothing as spectacular as yours.

Yes Sarey, your photo is from the Kalalau lookout, which looks across to the Kalepa Ridge in your great photo.
Waimea Canyon runs down the other side; what you see driving up the mountains from the town of Waimea on the coast.

Kauai's little Tropical Grand Canyon is a must see if you get over here to the islands sometime. (And hope the rains let up to see the valleys, waterfalls & cliffs.
