Scotch Egg

Serves 4

 

Ingredients // Amount

 

Eggs // 5 each

Mild Italian Sausage* // 3 links

Panko Bread Crumbs* // 1 cup

 

Method of Preparation

 

1.Hard-boil 4 of the eggs by placing them in cold water, bringing it to a boil, then removing from heat and letting sit covered for 16 minutes

2.Cool and peel the eggs

3.Remove casing from sausage

4.Press, roll, pound, etc. the sausage meet between two pieces of plastic wrap until you get a sheet about ¼ inch thick

5. Carefully wrap the boiled egg with the sausage sheet, tearing off any extra sausage

a.Use the extra sausage for the next egg

6.Carefully press the sausage around the egg until it is uniform and repeat with other 3 hard-boiled egg

7.Brake remaining egg uncooked egg, add 2 tablespoons of water and beat it

8.Carefully roll a sausage covered egg in the egg-wash and then in the bread crumbs and repeat with other eggs

9.Deep fry for about 5 minutes at 350°F

10.Cut in half and serve

 

*Substitutions

1.Any raw sausage can be used

2.Any style bread crumbs can be used
