Magic

A photo I took last year at retreat of my friend Connie. The original is horrible in terms of lighting and other elements. I tried to edit it many times before but I could never get it to work. I'm sooo glad I tried it again. =).

i am sure you must have done a hard work on this one. besides arms which look bit overfeathered, rest is entirely beautiful.

  3. Elizabeth Salib (64 months ago | reply)

They actually weren't feathered, but a little too much dodged I think. Thanks, I'll try fixing it now.

Edit: Burning didn't work, nor did sharpening. Does anyone have any ideas?

I don't know what's wrong with this picture. Except for the arm, everything is perfectly acceptable. =?

I think the problem is with the selection. You've used the tools on not just the arm, but also the background and foreground. You may want to draw a path very precisely and then edit just the arm (the original one, this one has lost too much image info).

Yeah that was defintately part of the problem. I hate going back to the original, but I suppose I'll have to. Otherwise it'll only look fake. Alrightio. Back to step one: adjusting lighting levels.. =/ darn.

    Don't kill the messengers :-)

You don't have to redo everything. Just take the origal arm and paste it back in. (Don't forget to include the dodged areas on the background and chest.)

Oh but I adjusted the lighting dramatically from the original. All I have to do now is try to match it exactly and I should be fine =/.
And the whole background is completely redone with the dodging and (mostly) burning tools). So I'll have to setlle for cutting out the arm and putting that alone in. The shirt isn't edited in any way. Darn, I should've saved the pdf file =).
