Storm Sirens

The tornado sirens and the oncoming storm mixed to create a completely surreal feeling tonight. Normally, we cannot hear the sirens where we live, but tonight the breeze must have been just right because we could hear sirens from Washington, a town around 7 miles away.

Nice composition and way to hide in your basement! We never here any sirens out here... we just wait for the roof to get torn off - then we run for it.

Cool picture, Rachel! I don't have a basement, so I was kind of freaked out, but it's over now. I wanted to take pictures, but I thought my camera might not like the hail too much. :)

Wow & YUM! Above the pair of water tanks, the sky's pockets were getting so heavy we could practically see the soft light flannel & slingshot kept inside! Surreal & lovely colours.

Great shot! I wondered if you'd take any pics of it. I did, but I don't think any of mine turned out this good.

Sorry--almost forgot: A really good atmospheric picure, and you will be rightly
proud and pleased about it. Could you have achieved it with the pre-D,70 camera ?

thanks to everyone for all the comments! The storm spared us the nasty stuff this time. We got some rain/lightning etc but no hail or tornados thankfully. :)
