Thanks. This was almost a throw away! We were testinng the lighting for some pet shots and I thought the expression was worth a look. No pun intended. So I cropped in and did a bit of cleaning. The sweep of the neck line works well. It was lit by a single large soft box. at about 60 degrees to the left of the camera.
It may benefit from a burning into the highlights on the right cheek.. Not sure.

My suggestion is to leave it like it is. A shadowy cheek facing the light source would be unnatural I'm afraid...

Er, I meant the other side. The right of the photo. There's a shadow from the nose and I'm being very pedantic...........

Almost a throw away :)
The shadows on the right cheek are surreal great.... in combination with the classic (not off center) comp....they create a fascinating cognition distortion !
