145/365 | Trooper vs Trooper

The image of Muhammad Ali standing over Sonny Liston is one of the most well know boxing, and arguably sports photographs of all time.

It was on this day; May 25, 1965, that Ali and Liston had a rematch. As we all know, Ali won with a knock out in the first round!

The original image was taken by Neil Leifer and our Troopers hope they have done his photograph justice.

*Update...Trooper vs. Trooper recently placed second @ the 4th Annual Juried Show of Photography & New Media at Visual Arts Mississauga and was featured in the Mississauga News.

    Enjoy!

Yeah this is pretty awesome. The time for the set-up was definitely worth the results. Way to go!

I love the fact that your photos of these clones gives me the feeling that if you were to pan the camera around you'd see the full world of these guys. That there actually is more around than just the stuff you've crammed infront of the camera.

That is something extremely few photographers and film-makers have.

That goes for all of your situation photos like this one.

      Thanks so much Poet!
Thanks frewuill, I thought it would be interesting to have him "just hanging out" in and amongst the crowd. Good catch!
I've been waiting a while to recreate this one. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
      Thanks John!
I did try a version with Vader, but I didn' like it.
Thanks jamerco. Ali's pose was tricky as the trooper wouldn't move exactly how I wanted him. It took some time.
Thanks for the comment and thanks for checking out the shots!
Thanks again Jason. It was one of my favourite to photograph.
      Thank you!
      Thanks Angie!
      Thanks so much Goose Keeper!
Thank you for noticing the little things. I do my best to make them look like there is more going on, but I could still be better. This is a wonderful compliment. Thank you so much!
Not sure if I am a genius, but you just made my day! Thanks!

When I saw this shot, I immediately thought of Cashius Clay! (Not sure when he changed his name, maybe I'm dating myself.) Your recreation is spot on. Great posing! Muhammad Ali is definitely one of the greats!!
