I saw this today and couldn't tell if it was
a new addition or not, as though I'd maybe
just noticed the elephant in the livingroom.
Not sure what is more disconcerting, the fact
that it was new, but seemed faintly familiar,
or that it was old and I'd not noticed...
nope. Not KX. Simon seems to nknow though... I had the same reaction as him - was on my
way home and nearly fell off my scoot when I
saw them. Had to go round the block and come
back to take a pic. :)
I like flxy's suggstion that it's all an
elaborate stereo. Where do I plug my ipod in?
It's in London Bridge... this pic is just
half of it! The sloppy nature of its
construction suggests that it is a temporary
installation. (Maybe a new scheme to charge pedestrians
congestion?)
Looks like this is going to be a permanent
fixture. They have painted all the cameras
and stuff black... I think it's better that
way - as you don't notice it immediately. Not
that I'm ok with having this giant structure
leering over the street...
hmmm, they'll probably be using this for
shouting out things like "hey you there!
yes you in the hooded top, we see you. put
that down and leave the area"
It might be part of a scheme I heard about a
while ago, they were talking about using
wireless tech to let people pay congestion
charge as they travel under these things by
wireless also it'll read number plates and
alert the police about fake ones

Oooh, good guess. I've seen some pretty mad cctv round where they're doing the Kings Cross chunnel link.

I spotted another one of these things hanging over (I think) Marylebone Road.
