"With things happening the way they have, I really do not like searching the ship by myself, but I know this is proably the quickest way. opefully I don't find anything I can't handle. I may look defenseless but looks can be decieving.

I was assigned to search the crew quarters and infirmary. The quarters were an easy enough serach, not many places for something to hide. It was awkward looking through Pvt. Clements belongings, but it had to be done. Not to mention, Sgt. Gideon-our trusty pilot and navigator-is quite the slob. It was a smooth search and I found nothing in any of the crew's quarters that would suggest they had anything to do with Clement's death and the thing in that crate.

The infirmary, however, was a different story. As soon as the doors opened, I sensed something was not quite right. Nothing seemed out of place, nothing had been disturbed, but then I checked the medical kcomputer. It had been activated and the entire crew medical records had recently been viewed. I shuddered at this thought. Whatever was within that crate had enough strength to tear it open like paper and enough intelligence to log into the ship's computer.

Then there was the cryo storage, where some supplies are kept cool and also where I stored Clements body until it could be returned to his family. I am sure the color drained from my face when I opened the storage locker door. Clements body was gone. It took considerable self control not to scream out, but I quickyl shut the locker and bolted from the infirmary. Time to contact the captain..."
