As part of the fabric of American culture, baseball is the common social ground between strangers, a world of possibilities and of chance, where 'it's never over till it's over.'" It is an American tradition rich in legends, folklore and history, a never-ending story where every game is a new nine-inning chapter and every player has the chance to be the hero.

This is a fascinating macro shot. I could spend a good deal of time looking at the weathering and scuffs on this ball. The only thing I find wanting is the composition. With its single object filling the frame and the shallow depth of field, the eye has nowhere to go. It would be nice if the eye could go somewhere else and come back to the baseball.

      interesting!
That ball looks like it's been well used (and maybe run over by the lawn mower a few times too)

this is how I remember my baseball.....the field, dirt, clay, lime, digging holes to get the water off the field to be able to play, dragging the field, and no parents yelling or even watching us play...and we just played our guts out...
