I was this close to Death!

A 2011 New York Comic-Con attendee portrays Neil Gaiman's 'Death' of the Endless.
Death appears in human form for a day once every 100 years to gain a better understanding of humanity.

The ultimate action figure!

The ultimate action figure!

'Little Marina' is a 25-foot display piece for the Missoni clothing line. It is a live performance where the arms are visibly performed by rods while the body and head are presumably animatronic. Between tweeting and blogging on the smartphone, the figure poses for photos with gathering onlookers.
The display is scheduled to hop around NYC for Fashion Week.

Update: I recently discovered a YouTube clip showing Little Marina's construction by Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc. The last few seconds demonstrate the final result in motion.

Not A Toy

Not A Toy

Parked outside Hasbro's showroom for the 2011 Toy Fair in NYC is a disguised Optimus Prime as seen in the current series of Transformers movies. I presume this is one of the actual filmed vehicles, including the joined trailer.

The great thing about Transformers (especially G1) is the reference to real world objects that we see every day, from autos to aircraft. We get a sense of how large the robot warriors potentially are.
Well, maybe not Megatron as a Walther pistol...

Sticker Shock

Sticker Shock

The sight of Toys"R"Us' giant orange price sticker gets my shopper-senses tingling, especially when the discount is a substantial 80% of the original $35USD retail price. Then I find it only less amazing because the current price is now actually $15 (at least at the Times Square location).

I wouldn't have expected the retailer to reduce the price for crushed packaging when the contents are visibly intact. Barricade is a favorite of mine, but I don't know if I would've jumped at the opportunity for the other Transformers "Human Alliance" characters.
