@Antonio San: Thank you for your kind words about Katherine. I wish everyone could know her. I first met her about 8 years ago, and she was still driving herself to church! On warmer days in the summertime she would walk (about a mile). I have never heard her say a mean word about anyone. That is not hyperbole, but is true. She is truly remarkable.
@fathero9: I'm so glad you like this and think it is appropriate for the Easter group. Katherine is so wonderful to know. We have her to our home for most holidays as she and her husband (deceased since the 1980s) didn't have any children, and she has outlived her siblings and friends. Her family was from Canada where a few cousins and relatives still live. We call our little group from church "Katherine's fan club" ! We all watch out for her! A couple of the women take turns driving her to and from Mass most weeks now.

Beautiful pic, Marylea. It's what church life is all about, isn't it? Thanks for posting to the Catholic Church Alive group.

@ Big Mike: It is exactly what church life is about! I spent a number of years as a single parent attending Mass. Sometimes I felt a little like an outsider since I didn't have the whole "family" experience in common with "all" the others (or the ones I noticed!...). But I have always taught my kids that we make our own happiness, and that others often feel the same way we do. Looking out for others that may feel alone or "different" is our calling as Catholics, and it enhances our own lives. Katherine was a guest of honor at my wedding to my husband three and a half years ago.

@ collidedwithgod: It's so kind of you to comment. It makes me happy that this pic gave your spirit a lift. It makes me smile to see Katherine's picture, too! :-)

thank you both for the comments!

Wow....amazing! I'll bet her sweet attitude is the secret to her longevity. (That, and maybe never having kids to worry about and prematurely age her.) Anyway, you're both lovely.
