My Father in Law, John William Winn, Jr.

My Father in Law, John William Winn, Jr.

Very shortly ago one of the most important men in my life slipped away to be reunited with his wife, son, parents and sisters. I was able to spend about six hours with him this afternoon as we held vigil. Everyone told him they loved him and played his favorite religious songs. He was a very fine and good man. He was my second father for 28 years and I will miss him deeply.

His son Brent's words:

Abbie & Dad

Abbie & Dad

Abbie never would have too much to do with Dad. Sophie has her paws all over his heart, and she spends most of her time with Dad when he's here. Starting when Dad got sick and was away from my house for about a week, Abbie started coming up for him to pet her and then one day, she jumped up in this chair with Dad. This photo is right before she got up with him and my battery went dead. Now she is very solicitous of him. Dogs know when people are ill. They are amazing. Yesterday after 3 weeks of back to back dental work, and many scans, and tests for my Dad's esophagael cancer, I came home and just lay down. I was about at a ragged end. My dogs, Sophie and Abbie got up on the bed with me and Abbie bathed my face for 15 minutes. Sophie lay her head on my chest and even Sammy the cat got up and laid down beside me and made "biscuits on my arm". My little family and helpmates.

Galvanized tin square herb pots and tray.

Galvanized tin square herb pots and tray.

These are for my inside herbs in the kitchen window. I got two of these sets. The other one will have Impatiens in them on the bistro table on the front porch.

Ralph Lauren Hurricanes dressed with sand and shells.

Ralph Lauren Hurricanes dressed with sand and shells.

Finally found a piilar large enough for these 19 inch tall leather wrapped glass hurricanes. Pier One has the sand, shells near in the candle department. I still need to add some shells, Most of them were too big for this space between the glass and candle, so I put more sand in a crystal bowl and displayed them separately.
