Nēnē

Nēnē

Nēnē although resembles the Canada goose, is endemic to Hawaiian islands. It is also the state bird of Hawaii. This bird almost became extinct, but thanks to conservation programs, the species survived. In the big island, it is hard to see them and we didn't find any until the last day of our trip. The staff at the visitor center in Volcano National Park mentioned, it took her 2 years to finally see one in wild.
