Tomb of Sikander Lodi

Tomb of Sikander Lodi

The tomb of Sikander Lodi is located at the north of Lodi Gardens, and sits on a raised platform behind a stone wall. It is one of the most peaceful parts of the garden; serene and pretty.

Big Dome

Big Dome

Bara Gumbad (Big Dome in English) is thought to be a gateway to the adjoining mosque and not a tomb, because it currently holds no grave, and there is no indication of who may have rested there at the time. It is built in the square style of tombs of this period, and the Department of Archaeology count it among the number of tombs in Lodi Gardens.

Entering Lodi Gardens by a certain route and it is the first of the old structures you encounter. One of the smaller domes of the mosque are just visible to the left of this image. Inside the mosque much of the intricate Arabic carving and decoration remains.
