Mount Trout Lake looks bigger than Mount Adams!

Mount Trout Lake looks bigger than Mount Adams!

Mounds of snow dotted the landscape in Trout Lake, Washington after the plows cleaned up parking lots and roads of the 5-6 feet of snow they got this last week. The biggest issue has been the power outages that still continue after 6 days. Work crews from the Klickitat PUD have been working night and day in nasty weather trying to get the power back to many outlying homes and communities around Mount Adams and Mount Hood and the Columbia Gorge. Our power in White Salmon was only out a couple times, perhaps a total of 26 hours, but many places are still out. One friend up the hill is melting snow for water, with no electricity they have no pump for their well. Still in the middle of all this humor and creativity abound, and people checking up on one another.

Hurray for the indomitable nature of the Human Spirit!

Pumping Gas the Old Fashioned Way

Pumping Gas the Old Fashioned Way

See how the pump is hooked to my truck battery with the engine running to power the pump that pulls gas from the underground tank to fill gas cans, which are then dumped into the vehicle? pretty darn cool I thought! No power? no problem!

By the way on the right (east) end of the gas station is a lovely deli coffee shop called Heavenly Grounds... with many yummy treats, a few local crafts, and MY PHOTO CARDS! *grin* just saying...
