Coming to work across the Brooklyn Bridge on the first morning of the 2005 transit strike in New York. It's 30° ambient, and about 11° with wind chill; over the water, it's cold.

Em, it was longish and mighty cold - an hour's trudge for about three urban miles. I was not looking forward to the dark trip back at 8:00 p.m., but one of my co-workers also lives in Brooklyn and decided he'd had it, so he offered a taxi drop. It was pretty effortless, in the end. Thanks for thinking of me.
Today and tomorrow I'm off work (burning vacation days before it's 2006). So I get to see King Kong in the hood.
My first real challenge will come this afternoon and evening, when I need to haul my butt up to the Upper West Side somehow - my brother, sister, sister-in-law and nephew are in, and Ethiopian food is called for. That's going to be a trek.
@haruspex - Glad you found my image. Sydney, eh? That's where the aforementioned brother and sister-in-law are ending up soon.

Yep, its a hot summer in Sydney - quite a difference to the snowcovered scenes you've been shooting.
But I'll be visiting New York next May, and am rather looking forward to it.
