Roaring River

Roaring River

This is a shot of Roaring River near its confluence with the Kings River in Kings Canyon National Park (California). A 1 second exposure at f/8....needless to say, the water was moving pretty fast.

Mountain Weather

Mountain Weather

This is from a June trip to Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon National Park. We had rain the first day and it was cold, so we decided to hike up to the top of the canyon (about 1000 vertical feet at this location) to see if we could find some snow. No luck on that quest, but the ridges were beautiful and we were happy just to reach blue sky. The Kings River is way down to the right in this image.

Manhatten Sunset, South

Manhatten Sunset, South

I haven't been online for more than a month, so apologies to all my friends. I've just had a crazy schedule.... I'll try to get caught up now, so it you see me commenting on old uploads, that's why!

This is a view from my room on the 20th floor of the Flatotel at 135 W 52nd Street in New York. I'm sorry to say I don't know the name of that building in the background. I had a quick trip and was pretty consistently busy, so only had time to do a little shooting. The sky was way blown out in my first version of this, so I tried an HDR, which I think works nicely here. I like the light on the buildings -- that's exactly the way I remember the scene.

Manhatten Sunset, West

Manhatten Sunset, West

This is looking west from the 20th floor of the Flatotel at 135 W 52nd Street in New York. The sun lined up almost perfectly, but the streets were so dark, the only way to capture the scene was by shooting 3 images at -2, 0 and +2, and making an HDR. I like the warmth and the detail in what I got, but was disappointed the sun was still a little overexposed. A nice shot, anyway. For those who know the area, the intersection in the foreground is Broadway and 52nd.

Caught in the Act

Caught in the Act

For some reason, he likes to chew on the edges of tables. This was taken in February and he's mostly grown out of it by now (May), but there was a time there when our coffee table was irresistible.

Explore #162 on April 30! Thanks!
