Speeding gull

Last of the Ishøj beach park photos I guess... But that wheren't a bad trip after all, even though I didn't get any kitesurfers through my lens.

This photo is done panning following the gull and the background is rippled sand visible because of low tide, the colour of the sand is golden because of the sun setting.

Purel magical... the colors are liquid and the motion very well rendered. A rare and unique shot.

    7. Martini DK (80 months ago | reply)

Actually I haven't rendered anything.... played a little with the colours in whitebalance while converting from RAW, yes I did that. It's not been motionblurred but it's a panning following the gull shooting with a slow shutter.

The lines you can see is sand, formed by the water and low tide made them visible. I've cropped out some water at the top from the original as I thought it made it a bit more clean photo.

      Beautiful!!

Is not easy to catch a gull in "high speed fly"...

      Good job.

Like the golden background with the gull in it's normal colour in front. You can certainly feel the speed!

Another very small Image, I'm sorry but I can't really comment with knowledge this subject with this size of image, I don't see if the seagull is on focus or not for instance.
I really like the colours of your image, I like the way in witch you cropped the image but again I can't see if it is on sharp focus or not and therefore I will have to score it lower than what I would probably do if you had a bigger version and I could see all the detail in the shot.

Sorry I must have missed the lonk Martini, I usually never read the comments not even the author comments before I post or rate a photo, I do this to keep my mind from getting any external influence.

I've seen the large version of this shot and I would like to increase my rating to 8/10. I've edited my rating on the previous post.

Sorry for missing the link below.

I think it would be more attractive if the seagull would be sharp. So at present everything is in the move. The colors and composition are very nice and the crop is well chosen.

I love the colors and the lines. The only thing that bothers me is the gull not being in focus. Good job.

You really get a good sense of the speed of movement from this picture. I agree with the previous comment though that the gull not being in focus does distract a bit, but overall I really like the picture.

It is good that you captured the gull against that background producing contrast. The light is good and the striations in the landscape make a very interesting backdrop.

There is unfortunately no portion of hte gull that is sharp when viewed large. The wing movement is ideal, but there is just too much movement elsewhere. The gull does also tend to be just a little too much central and lost in the environment. I have shown my suggested drop.

I love the lines, the colors, and the composition. I would not crop. The softness of the bird is what keeps the shot from being a ten for me. Great as is, but to be a 10 the bird has to be sharp.

Wow, great shot. I like the speed captured in this picture. I also like the colors. I would like to see picture in a larger format, unfortunately that is not available. Maybe the proposed composition is somewhat stronger.

p.s. The larger size is available using the link underneath the picture. This link did not respond earlier this evening.

Gloriously golden background at large on black, as others have said the bird would be better in focus, and I would crop the left side to halfway between the bird and the frame.

    25. Indyblue (78 months ago | reply)

Great shot, nice panning. I wish there was a larger size as I would really have loved to see this large. The golden color is magnificient, i don't think the crop would be a nice idea as it might result in the composition losing clarity. Overall a nice picture!

i do agree that the colors are very warm--nicely done there. the panning is good, but the gull is still blurry. this is a very difficult effect to pull off perfectly, but i still get a nice sense of motion. i would also recommend the framing suggestion.
