Little Maumelle River
Exposure: 25 seconds
Aperture: f/7.1
ISO: 100
Focal length: 40mm
Circular polarizer
Cypress Trees in the Little Maumelle River – on the Kingfisher Trail at Pinnacle Mountain State Park. We’ve had several inches of rain this week and the river was way up out of its banks, which meant that all the limbs and debris that were washed in from all the heavy spring rains would be submerged and would make getting a decent distraction-free shot more of a possibility. It of course means that once the water recedes there will be new debris in its place.
It’s a vicious cycle.
edit: no ND filters were harmed (or used) in the making of this photo.
2nd edit: as far as I know, flood damage around here has been minimal - nothing compared to what's going on in Georgia right now.

work is overrated
clay.wells (44 months ago | reply)
agree - it may also be underpaying as well. but it's a necessary evil.

Well I'm trying pretty hard to get paid for this little photo taking hobby of mine. Maybe someday

Very cool Clay. The white color of the water almost looks like melting slushy ice. Me likey that.
This also reminds me of the merrimack river here in the spring. We fish it and all the fish swim into areas like this making it hard to catch them.
Great stuff.

If the floods were not so much of a tragedy, I'd enjoy this very good image more. And it is very good. I like what the long exposure did for the ater.

Cool shot. I heard that this part of Pinnacle was closed earlier this week cause the rains flooded the creek. Apparently it was at the level of the picnic tables.

Wonderful long exposure & tones! Definitely looks like ice, which is kinda sad because we'll be getting that up here soon enough... I need to get one of those ND filters!

I've been reading about the floods and rain over here.. hope you and the fam are staying safe.
This is a great shot. It definitely looks like ice. The grey tones definitely set this off quite nicely.

This is great, Clay. I need some ND filters too! I love the swirl to the water that you can see if you look real close. Beautiful b&w. I could walk on that water.

Looking at this photograph I appreciate very much the subject interesting and not trivial. I greatly appreciate the composition so gentle and elegant and careful selection of tones. everything here is indicative of a particular treatment, not common to all photographers. A job well done, congratulations.

Really nice capture here, I'm particularly fond of the movement I'm starting to see in foreground. Its got a nice, haunted feel to it....I dig it!
