Street and alley - Fort MacLeod, Alberta

Street and alley - Fort MacLeod, Alberta

A small and historic town in Southern Alberta; home to approx 3,000.
At one time, the town was the headquarters of the North West Mounted Police (forerunners to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police).

It is the birthplace of singer Joni Mitchell.

A number of the town's buildings were seen in the movie Brokeback Mountain (apparently).

The bus station on the right is particularly grim and unchanged since the 1950's...which is when the town became famous for a UFO sighting by a pilot attempting to set a speed record. Coincidence?
