The Path

Went on a walk with the family the other day. My son and I trailed back. He was busy throwing rocks..so i started taking shots

of my wife and daughter with the new 50mm 1.4G. I'm really liking this lens. The only negative I have is that the focus is not as good as the older 1.4D. It slower to focus and hunts a lot more in lower light. Even this shot, which I took about 10, several was not focusing on them. But I do love the quality and the DoF from this lens which is more important to me.

My desktop went down last week. So for now I'm editing on this macbook book air. It's fine except for it is not callibrated so the

colors I see on my screen are pretty different than when I look on other monitors. Hopefully I get my system back up and running

    soon.

I love ur shots man i use them as the background of all my devices, and whoever sees them is always impressed. Keep up the great work.

i try to keep them 16:9 (1680x1050) so they work well as backgrounds :)

hahaha! I thought you were using f1.4. hehe..
focusing with f1.4 is really hard. At f1.6, it's a bit fine.
      btw, excellent composition!

Shame to hear that it's slower to focus, because I've been thinking ditching my D for G. It's better wide open though, right?

    17. isayx3 (18 months ago | reply)

      yes, much better wide open

Ed, any advice on half day/day trails nr LA would be most welcome as we are flying over from the UK and visiting my relatives in Fullerton & Huntington Beach next June. They're not walkers or photographers, but we are!
