T-Red and Tan Patchwork Octagons

    Newer Older

This focus fabric was a patchwork print, which I think made good stacks. This little setting block is a favorite of mine :)

I couldn't wait to open up the bigger picture - to see what those polka dots were! Fun detail.

Another gorgeous top, I think the colour-combination works well. Your blocks are so great.
I also like your website a lot, there is so much to see :)

Thanks! The focus fabric had just a touch of green in it and I wanted to make the top with both red and green, without it screaming Christmas. Thanks for visiting my website :) Since I do sell my quilt tops there, I don't advertise it a lot on Flickr, but it's nice to have company in my sewing room from my Today's Work page :) I try to make that page a little like a quilting blog, but I didn't want to establish a second website that was just a blog because, if I spend too much time on computer things, I won't have any time to make quilt tops!

Linda, every day I look for another gorgeous quilting in you flickr, and day-by-day I see one quilt more gorgeous than the last one!!!
      This one is wonderful!
I love this combination: Green and Red, and, as you said, it's not the classical christmas red and green! It's amazing!

Thanks so much! I've been having fun starting my day by deciding which quilt top to put on Flickr :)

Oooh this one is so pretty - this is one of my faves of all LRM time.

Thanks! It has a very gentle look, which surprised me a bit since I was working with a pretty crazy red print :) I got a kick out of the LRM reference.....when your name is Miller and especially Linda Miller, there are tons of us. So, for the internet, I added my maiden name, which I use as my middle name. Yes, when I married, I traded Rotz for Miller - good deal :)

Yes, the name combo would have been rough for the kids to handle :) At one point in my father's career, he actually worked with two fellows named DeKay and Pugh....so there they were Rotz, DeKay and Pugh! They always said they should have opened a trash removal company :)

The whirly-swirly octagons are terrific, of course - but what I really like here are the setting blocks with the four little squares on-point. Don't think I've ever seen that before!

Thanks! That setting block is a favorite of mine which came about when I tried leaving out the colored center block in a nine patch and then just made that strip one piece. If you "tune in" tomorrow, I'll put another one on with just that block :)
