I know! She looks so fierce and yet you know if she were to break into a smile, she would look so warm and sweet! This photograph is just so appealing to me. I want to remember to try and look like this myself! (Sans afro, unfortunately)

I think it's all in her features. They're rounded and soft. The large eyes, the lips, the face-shape. And she's perfected the frowny pout.

Angie: Yes, the necklaces are for models only! And I agree -- that frowny pout is perfection. I'd also like to note her lovely arm which is slender but not freakishly toothpicky.

Her name is Tamara Dobson and this photograph was taken by Richard Avedon. There is a little bit of information about her on another page in this spread: flickr.com/photos/charmandpoise/2871707012/in /photostream/ but otherwise that's all I know. She a beautiful mystery!

yeah! she was in cleopatra jones! i went as her for halloween a few years back, because i love her and i'm sort of obsessed with blaxploitation films. the costume was supposed to be ironic, because i am 5'1" (and, well, white.)
