No idea what this little fella is probably a fruit fly. If you have an idea for an ID please let me
know. I'll post more images of it as I make them. It's got
interesting mottled wings and looks a lot like a moth from a distance.
I'm making use of my new piece of kit. A Christmas present for myself.

Here it is. A Canon macrophoto 20mm f/3.5
Used in this image wide open at f/3.5
Stacked from 61 images, lit with a Nikon SB24 diffused through a plastic white yoghurt pot
Magnification is 5.5:1 on the sensor
Thanks to Nikola Rahme to pointing out that this is obviously some kind of fruit fly. You can see the resemblance on this fruit fly I photographed earlier in the year.

That's a good way to spend Christmas, ( won't bother you with mother in law / ate to much boring stories etc) So it finally arrived, a not too shabby lens by the looks of it, had high hopes for this one. A very Merry Christmas to you Craig, and best of wishes for 2012, the year in which I hope to reach 500 macroshots, buy at least 5 more so-so lenses, and you'll most likely become a celebrity in extreme macro photography =)
