Kerry's Afternoon Tea - Patchwork 318 Bee - October

Tea pot pattern from Kumiko Fujita's Patchwork 318. The tea cup was improvised, mainly because I could not piece the handle this small!
Block measures 6" finished.

In my imagination Kerry has a lovely collection of mismatched vintage cups and saucers on the kitchen table for afternoon tea. She will probably be busy perusing the paper to find where the next car boot sale will be ;-)

I am a little unsure about the fabrics I pulled for this block Kerry. I'm worried that instead of looking thrifty and vintage they just look a bit drab.
I knew I wanted to use the little piece if linen with Berry on it but there isn't that much contrast with the background fabric. I think it is 'Mrs March' as well as the main fabric of the tea pot? And what was I thinking a teapot with a teapot on it? not sure!

Oh my goodness Leila, this is perfect! I have the Mrs March fabric too. The fabrics do look thrifty and vintage, a great mix. I do have very mixed up pots, plates, tea cups, jugs and mugs in my kitchen and many of them have turquoise in so your teapot will fit in very happily indeed! The cup reminds me of the Clarice Cliff cups with the same handles!

    thanks!

yay! I guessed right, you were bound to have a collection of thrifty goodness in your kitchen. I am relieved this will work for you.
It's odd how I start full of confidence pulling fabrics drawing up templates, then spend hours piecing only to step back and think hmmm I am not so sure about this. Might be that by then I have stared at it for so long I can only see the flaws not the things that initially sparked my enthusiasm.
Clarice Cliff, that gave me a "Bargain Hunt" flash back, is that show still on? Must watch it again lol!

I think Bargain Hunt is always on somewhere! I think piecing is always a bit of a fight- I have moments when I think I can't get it to work but actually when you finish it the doubts go and the achievement is there- you definitely pulled it off!

Leila! You need to start realizing how cute and flawless your blocks are! I think you did such a great job squeezing in lots of fun prints Kerry would love! So thoughtful of you to add the Berry jar! I wouldn't worry about this even a little bit if I were you! It's just so lovely!

I get behind even when Flickr is working properly, there's too much good stuff on here I could be stuck behind my computer for weeks!

Thank you! The tea pot and cup are made with Mrs. March by Lecien. I found them in the scrap bin at my LQS. The red text fabric (bottom strip) is Suzuko Koseki, you can buy it on Etsy in Ayumi's shop or BlijeOlifantje. Hope that helps :)
