- Just your standard, whistlin' kettle...
- The second batch actually got more seasoning because the pan had already soaked up a lot of sauce. Mmmm....
- Yup, I'm a leftie.
- Nylon spatula. I actually wasn't using it. It was just, y'know, hanging out.
- Yeah, the stove's a little splattered. Messy, messy Kurt...
- Trusty toaster oven. Without it, my wife would be bagel-less every morning.
- Amanda loves this skillet, even though it weighs a ton. It is carefully cleaned with baking soda only (no soap) and oiled, so that it'll be properly "seasoned". Fun...
Stir-Fryin'
Just my hand, a wooden spoon, the cast-iron skillet and some chunks o' chicken. This is actually the second batch of stir-fry that I'm cooking tonight. Our skillet's too small to prepare the full amount that we want, so I've gotta do it twice. Once before dinner, and once after dinner (as tomorrow's lunch-to-be).
I seriously need to get a real wok one of these days...

There's nothing like a real cast iron skillet! I've not used one since I moved out of home.
Mum never used soap on it either.

Once Ikea opens up at 121 and the Dallas North Tollway, you can pick up a decent wok for under $10. You just have to wait until summer.

The chances of me being able to walk into an Ikea and leaving with only a wok are pretty slim.
Also, I want a BIG wok. Ideally, one of the electric kinds, because the big ones are a little too large for most stoves.
Maybe I need to steal my mom's...

I lost my enthusiasm somewhat for cast iron when I dropped a 15 pounder on my foot (didn't break it but... damn!).

Amanda would be less enthusiastic about our cast-iron monster if things like cleaning it and lifting it to drain excess fat did not fall under "Kurt's jobs".

*whistles innocently*
Now wait a minute...I've cleaned it!
Mmmmm...baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagels.

for our wedding, we received a 30.00 wok from one of those specialty home stores. it took forever to season and the food always smelled "tinny." at the asian food store in our farmers market, we found a nice, dark metal one for 12 bucks. we are enamoured with it's ability to to make fried tofu in minutes. we love it, love it, love it.

I love wok food. I bought an electric one last year. It looks great in my cabin ;-) (I should use it more often)
