Strobist Boot Camp Assignment #2 - Background
Single overhead halogen light is lighting the painting, Paul is lit by a snooted SB-26 at 1/8 on camera left. White balancing and auto-levels.
This is my friend, painter Paul Ziakin. We had a great session because Paul really got into it and had some great ideas when I bumped into lighting corners.

Nice shot, but I'm afraid that a the is color disbalance visible -- your camera seems to pick up something between tungsten and flash color temperature, so parts lit by halogen are quite warm and the parts lit by the flash are more blue. That includes Paul, who would most probably look better a bit warmer.
I suggest you either warm Paul up in PS, or gel the flash with a tungsten conversion gel.

che_0 - I didn't have a gel - bad preparation, and I don't think that I could warm Paul up in PS and still quality for the bootcamp -- so you make your mistakes and live with them...

Ted-
I really like this photo, and completely missed it somehow during my edit. It was there - I just missed it.
I love the effect of the low-angle snoot with the glasses' shadow on the background. Very good connection w/ the subject, too. Nice work.
