Waiting in the cold and wind the other morning with no light to photograph with and no book to read it struck me that something to write on would be just smashing. I've kept an online journal for many years now so the inclination is there but lugging a laptop around to jot down thoughts at odd hours is not practical. So this evening after watching the fantastic Finding Neverland I popped into the local bookshop and bought myself a moleskine diary. It feels the right size to me, small enough to slip into a bag but large enough to paste a postcard into. The rounded edges, tough cover and good binding will mean it survives my rough-handling too. Though I do hope it gets that worn look.
On the first page there is space to write your address and how much you will reward the finder, and returner, of the diary should it be lost. I thought it a sign of the times that I will write not my street address but my email address.
I am toying with the idea of photographing each filled page as a I go. While I very much doubt anybody but me will find it interesting or useful I do think it a nice idea.

I always carry something to write on with me, just in case inspiration strikes. Looks like a beautiful journal. Fill it with some good things, yes.

This is, somehow, a cool picture, in its own right without the explanation. The angle, colour, white background - the pen. (I have the same pen in front of me.) Great!

Creativity at it's best! What kind of pen is it?

Best journal/sketchbook/tech-notes-keeper book in the WORLD. Good choice, Paul. I myself am always interested in what other people put in their moleskines.

Van Gogh never drew a Moleskine notebook. This is a fraud. Pure marketing.
This notebook is made from the Moleskine brand since 1998!. Van Gogh, Picasso, Hemingway, to a time that had already died ...

It is still a nice notebook.
