Banksy is in San Fran now as well? Excellent!
Let's hope his work is still there in a
couple of months :) And yes indeed, it does look nice when it's
framed haha! -- Seen in Darrell Godliman's favourites.
It was really great seeing his stuff show up
in SF. I'm bummed that I didn't get a chance
to shoot the Alcatraz piece or the rat in
Fisherman's Wharf. Apparently there was a
big rat around 24th and Valencia that also
got taken down. Gotta be quick. Hopefully
the pieces up now stay up.
SF really needs Banksy I think. I hope he
comes back and paints some more. Street art
has been down it feels like over the past few
years. Probably in part due to graffiti
clean up dollars as well as Gavin Newsom's
less tolerant attitude towards it than
previous mayors. It seems like the available
space to paint is also down.
When I was down in Miami I was BLOWN away at
how much bigger Miami is now for street art
than SF. No comparison. SF definitely has
some catching up to do. Hopefully Banksy's
visit puts a little bit of a spark in the SF
street art scene.
I MOS DEF agree with you. Even though i
havent seen the streets of Miami, SF really
does need to step up their game. Im sure once
Banksy comes back over here, others will
follow.
if it were my building, i would've ripped the
wood panels off and sold the damn thing to
some museum with a huge acquisition fund.
coulda paid for a whole new building one
day!!!!
no, seriously, i read the thread and how it
had been painted over and all i can say is
you'd have to be fking stupid not to try to
cash in on "banksy's" stuff. i'd
drill a cement wall out of foundation if i
had to -- not that banksy's stuff is so
wonderful, it's just so economically exposed
that you couldn't lose if you held onto it
for five years and then put it on ebay.
but i will say that banksy's sentiments
ALWAYS make me laugh or smile. i wanna join
that medea armee!!!!
